A quick and flavorful Thai-inspired stir-fry featuring ground beef, aromatic Thai basil, and a savory sauce, served over steamed rice with a fried egg.

- 16 oz ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Thai chilies, thinly sliced
- 1 cup Thai basil leaves
- Neutral oil, for cooking
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup sliced bell pepper
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- Cooked jasmine rice, for serving
- 1 fried egg per serving
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and sliced Thai chilies; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add bell pepper and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the sauce mixture of dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar; stir to coat the meat.
- Cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Remove from heat and fold in Thai basil leaves until wilted.
- Serve the stir-fry over steamed jasmine rice and top each portion with a fried egg.
Notes
For extra heat, add more sliced chilies. Adjust sugar to taste for a balanced flavor.
